We have a few E220R servers that need to be upgraded, but I noticed
that some of the newer Sun offerings don't support 9. We have apps
that only work on 9 and we don't have dev staff to port to newer OS.
What are the choices? I'd like the smallest footprint possible.
See if the apps will function in a Solaris 9 container running on
Solaris 10.
services on this box (all tested on 5.9 only). I really need to run
native 5.9. I did check the Sun HCL today, and for some reason they
don't list old OS versions for their HW. For example, for E220, they
only note that it supports 10 but don't mention anything about earlier
versions.
AFAIK, the Sparc offerings today are T series or M series, neither
of which will run Solaris 9. Other than that, you're looking at a
remanufactured Ultrasparc system.
