While we are on the subject of VCS, and since it needs a shared disk
array, what's the smallest one to get? We have a tiny Oracle DB
(around 5 GB). Do I need a Sun array or some 3rd party will work as
well???
Third party should work as well! The problem with third party is support. Sun won't support it! It's entirely possible that they *can't* support it; no parts, no service manuals, etc, etc. If it triggers some sort of software problem, once again, no support from Sun.
Third party can sometimes save you enough money to justify the risk!
