We have a XP1000 running Tru64 4.0. It's our last Unix machine for
now, and we are trying to keep it working. The original Toshiba cdrom
failed and was replaced with an EDO brand drive. The drive mounts OK;
the directory can be listed, and half the time files can be read
without problem. The rest of the time the system hangs (screen
freezes up) or crashes with "kernel memory error" message. This
happens in a PVWAVE application reading large tiff files and while
trying to copy the files to disk. I've checked /etc/fstab and found
just generic cdrom description.
What am I doing wrong?
