hello,
I need to develop an snmp server agent and I had thought to use
Agent/Subagent architecture. I've been in touch with SNMP Research and
I was told its software doesn´t run on 5.1A alpha but they can update
( migrate )it to make it work on it. Before I decide to follow that
solution I want to try others alternatives.
1) I would like anyone to tell me if there is any other licensed
software that I could use for developing an snmp agent based on
Agent/Subagent architecture on 5.1A alpha operating system.
2) Another solution is to use freeware software. I've been trying to
use some freeware software to help me to develop the subagents and
I've found an Agentx Api from CMU that it could be of great help but
problem is that traps doesn't work properly; subagents crash when
trying to send a trap to the manager. GET, SET and GET NEXT seems to
work fine. Does anybody know any freeware software similar to CMU
Agentx Api that I could use to implement my server ( snmp V1 on 5.1A
alplha)?. I would like this software to support Agentx protocol in
order to be able to develop subagents that connect with standard snmp
daemon.
3) During my proofs with CMU Agentx Api I've realized that snmp daemon
stops working ( no crashes but there's no way to retrieve information
through GET commands ) after a while when manager starts sending snmp
ping packets to the agent. However, this doesn't happen on 5.1B alpha.
I imagine this is a problem related to certain patches. Does anybody
know anything about this?
Thanks in advance:
Eduardo Lopez
