Close, but not quite. We've got hordes of printers (not entirely
sure how many, but it's close to 500) configured with some custom
filters on the OSF/1 side printing via CAP rather than LP. As it's
a critical production environment we're looking to minimise the
number of things we change.
(This stuff was all set up back when CAP was being maintained and
the LaserWriter was the most common printer around.)

Not a silly question, and the answer is "I don't know". The CAP
documentation is, not surprisingly, geared towards systems which
were in vogue 10+ years ago, so it's difficult to figure out which
things apply and which don't. And of course I didn't set this box
up -- it's supposed to be configured as similarly to our 4.0 machines
as possible, but this may have been overlooked.
So thanks for the suggestion, and I'll check it tomorrow.
