This group will surely help you. Not that installing Tru64 takes much
experience.
It was possible for me, without any previous knowledge (unless you count
installing
Ultrix-16 in 1980 :-) to install Tru64 v5.0 in one attempt on a Digital
Server 3305.
Which brings us to the second question. You don't say what version of Tru64
you
want to run. You do need an Alpha powered system of course. Have a look at
the
AlphaServer 800 or an AlphaStation 200.
I'd stay away from the earlier Alpha's like the DEC 3000 series. Reliable no
doubt
but power hungry and fairly slow.
An alternative would be a "white box" alpha. These are labeled Digital
Server instead
of Alpha Server but will run Tru64 (and VMS :-) as well as their blue
painted twins.
They need a small software modification, see /home.zonnet.nl/hvlems
Worth looking for because these systems are generally dumped because they
were
sold as Windows NT only systems.
I can't answer the third question...
