The best thing is to set the nic to 100 MBit/s instead of
using autosense.

I've at home a DS10. There I've to use auto sense because I only
have a cheap switch without cli to configure the ports to a fixed
speed.
At work we also use the 2950 with Alphas. There we have to set it
to a fixed speed otherwise we get a lot of collisions on the ethernet.
