I ran Tru64 UNIX v5.1b on my AlphaStation 500au and I could not get
reliable 100baseT networking from the built in ethernet.

Here are the built in ethernet settings that did and did not work for me:

>>> show e*
>>> set ewa0_mode auto-negotiate # 100BT Full hangs net
>>> set ewa0_mode fast # 100BT Half Hangs net
>>> set ewa0_mode fastFD # 100BT Full Hangs net
>>> set ewa0_mode twisted-pair # 10BT Half is OK
>>> set ewa0_mode Full Duplex # 10BT Full is OK

I ended up installing a DE500 PCI ethernet card to get reliable
100BaseT. But even then, it seemed as if I was not able to get really
good performance, but at least it was reliable.
